We must bring awareness to the unconscionable realities of human sex trafficking. While many may be aware that human sex trafficking exists, it must be known that this evil preys on females and males, ages ranging from infants to adults. We are grateful to those who have made it their mission to seek out and rescue these innocent children from a life of unspeakable horrors of sexual torture. A question that seems to be often overlooked is…What happens now?
The truth is, the answer to this question is one of lack.
FACT: The United States ranks as one of the worst countries in the world for human trafficking, with an estimated 199,000 incidents occurring annually. The number of reported cases, however, is much smaller.
FACT: Total Beds for Trafficking Survivors = 1,644
Shelters included in this count may focus on other vulnerable populations in addition to human trafficking survivors. 75 organizations in the United States and U.S. territories offer shelter beds that fall into this category.
There is your answer. There are simply not enough resources. This imbalance is staggering.
We are Lambs to Lions, Inc. and our mission is to balance these scales. With your help we are working to provide not only a place for those rescued to lay their heads at night but also a place of healing and restoration.
“He [Jesus] was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth”
Isaiah 53:7
“… Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed…”
Revelation 5:5
St. Augustine said in his Sermon 375A, “He endured death as a lamb. He devoured death as a Lion.” Our name, “Lambs to Lions”, recognizes the sacrifice of Jesus as the Lamb and then rising as The Triumphant Lion.
We share this message to provide hope to those who believe all hope has been lost. Hope is not lost. Even though these innocent human beings were treated as lambs led to the slaughter, they too can rise again as triumphant lions.
